Our guest, Rommani Sen Shitak, is a Media Educator & Author and Research Guide at the University of Mumbai.  Rommani Sen Shitak started her journey as a researcher at the National Institute of Urban Affairs and is highly skilled in the areas of journalism and mass media. In this conversation with Deepa Soman, she speaks about her book ‘Public Service Broadcasting in India – A Study of Doordarshan.’ She shares about the evolution of television and the idea of prioritizing information sharing through Doordarshan rather than just as a means of entertainment. A broad look into media in terms of the philosophy behind the content, its engineering, revenue generation, and credible information sharing.
